The new GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 variant is set to launch tomorrow in China. However, one of NVIDIA’s board partners has already listed the GPU on a major e-commerce platform.
Colorful Lists Four Different RTX 5090 D V2 Editions on JD, Featuring New Downgraded Specifications
Due to new US export policies, NVIDIA had to stop shipping the GeForce RTX 5090 D variant, which was designed for the Chinese market with reduced AI capabilities. To comply with these rules, a new variant called the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 was produced. This variant features downgraded memory configuration, including 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM instead of 32 GB and a reduced memory bandwidth of 384-bit.

It appears that NVIDIA’s board partners are ready to launch their custom designs tomorrow when the embargo lifts. One of these partners, Colorful, has already listed several RTX 5090 D V2 editions on one of China’s biggest e-commerce sites. There are four different versions from Colorful, as shown in the screenshot. The starting price is 20,699 Yuan, which translates to approximately US$2,880.
The other variants listed by Colorful are priced at 20,799 and 20,999 Yuan, equivalent to around $2,900 in USD. This pricing does not align with previous reports suggesting a much lower price for the new variant. According to earlier reports, the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 was expected to cost 14,000 Yuan, which is roughly US$830 less than the original RTX 5090 D. It’s possible that the current prices of 20,000+ Yuan may not be the official MSRP for the RTX 5090 D V2. As @Zed__Wang suggested, the RTX 5090 D V2 may be priced similarly to the RTX 5090D.
Essentially, Chinese gamers will have to pay the same amount for inferior hardware. However, it’s likely that the leftover inventory of the RTX 5090 D is already sold out and has been shipped to different parts of the world through major retailers at a price tag of $5,000+. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 5090 can be smuggled into the Chinese market and converted into AI GPUs. Some of these GPUs, with original PCBs but missing GPU and VRAM modules, enter the supply chain secretly, as we have seen in a few cases.
