The GPD Win 5 is the first gaming handheld to feature a Strix Halo-based processor, specifically the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with a 55-75W TDP. This powerful APU includes 16x Zen 5 cores and the fastest iGPU called Radeon 8060S, making it the most potent gaming handheld currently available.
The GPD Win 5 boasts an impressive 7-inch display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium support. It also offers a wide range of configurations: memory options from 32GB to 64GB, storage options from 1TB to 4TB, and additional microSD card slots.
This gaming handheld supports up to 128GB LPDDR5X 8000 MT/s memory and up to 4TB SSD capacity. The WIN 5 weighs only 565 grams without its detachable 80Wh battery pack, which adds another 350 grams when attached.
The display is an IPS panel with a resolution of 1920x1080p and supports up to 120Hz refresh rates. It features a 100% sRGB color space for vivid visuals and measures just 267mm in length, making it one of the more compact gaming handhelds available.
GPD has also equipped the Win 5 with modern controls, including capacitive joysticks and Hall Effect technology triggers. The device supports WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and two Type-C ports for USB 3.2 Gen 2 and USB 4.0 connectivity, along with a 3.5mm audio jack.
In terms of performance, the GPD Win 5 reportedly outperforms many high-end desktop processors at lower power consumption and synthetic benchmark scores higher than NVIDIA RTX 4060 Mobile. Pricing is expected to be sub-$2000, making it more affordable than other high-end gaming handhelds like the ASUS ROG Z13 Flow, which costs $2299.
