According to a well-known analyst, Grand Theft Auto VI could break records not just in terms of profits but also in pricing. Michael Patcher from Wedbush Securities predicts that the game will cost more than any other title on the market at launch. He expects the price tag to be $100, which would make it the first video game to retail for such a high price point, excluding special or limited editions.
Patcher believes that despite the high price, Grand Theft Auto VI will generate significant profits, likely totaling $10 billion in lifetime earnings and $500 million annually from GTA Online. He estimates the game’s budget at around $1.5 billion, including marketing costs, which aligns with other analysts’ predictions.
The consensus among gaming industry experts is that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be one of the biggest releases ever. Last month, Josh Chapman from Konvoy confirmed their prediction that the game would generate $7.6 billion in revenue during its first two months on the market, with Take-Two expected to recoup a potential $2 billion investment within a month.
By other metrics—such as number of copies sold, player count, and viewership—the new entry is predicted to be a record-shattering release. Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on May 26, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. While the PC version has not been officially confirmed yet, past Rockstar Games titles have typically debuted on PC in 2027 or later.
