It’s almost 30 years since the iMac G3 was unveiled, notable for its distinctive design elements like the translucent plastic case. Even though it’s been discontinued, some enthusiasts have recreated this iconic computer using Lego pieces. The latest images showcase a product that looks incredible, but if you want one, you need to cast your vote—5,000 votes are required for production.
The Lego version of the iMac G3 consists of 700 pieces, including a miniature keyboard and the characteristic ‘hockey puck’ mouse. Creator terauma meticulously designed the set to closely resemble the original machine from 1998. However, due to its smaller size, this Lego replica wouldn’t take up as much desk space as a full-scale model would.
The attention to detail is evident in the miniature cathode ray tube and other components. The set has already received 4,663 votes, just shy of the goal. Reaching 5,000 votes isn’t a huge challenge, but securing Apple’s approval for production is more difficult. LEGO can only move forward with this project if it establishes a licensing agreement with Apple, which holds multiple design and technology patents.
