He maintained that India’s robust data provisions remain intact and highlighted the nation’s unique position in global digital connectivity.
In a focused dialogue with ANI, Mittal stated, “Data movement is crucial in today’s trade landscape. With India’s advancements in digital connectivity often surpassing global standards, we have a distinct stance on data sharing. Our FTAs, such as the one with the UK, foster relationships with nations deemed trustworthy for data exchange.”
Mittal also discussed India’s data protection measures, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act of 2023, which aims to enhance data security. Addressing concerns over satellite internet in conflict situations, he noted that the government has the authority to impose internet shutdowns through licensed operators like Starlink and OneWeb, ensuring adherence to established regulations.
