Minisforum Unveils Ryzen AI Max+395-Powered MS-S1 Max Mini with Up to 160W of Peak Power; Brings a Built-In 320W PSU and Blazing Fast USB4 V2 Ports
Popular mini PC manufacturer, Minisforum, has introduced the MS-S1 Max Mini AI Workstation, its most powerful mini PC yet. Equipped with the Ryzen AI Max+395 processor, it boasts 16x Zen 5 cores and SMT for excellent gaming and productivity performance. Capable of up to 160W peak power, the system is designed to boost performance when needed.
The MS-S1 Max Mini offers leading specifications in a compact chassis with a volume of 3.2L and supports 2U rack mounts. It features the fastest integrated graphics, Radeon 8060S, and can support dedicated GPUs via a PCIe x16 slot inside the chassis. While exact clearance for GPUs is unknown, it’s likely designed to accommodate low-profile entry-level cards. To ensure adequate power delivery, a 320W power supply is included.
To facilitate easy access and maintenance, the MS-S1 Max Mini utilizes a slide-out pull design with dual-fan cooling and six heat pipes for efficient thermal management. The system also benefits from ample ventilation to prevent thermal throttling.
One of the most notable features of the MS-S1 Max Mini is its USB4 V2 interface, which provides an impressive 80 Gbps bandwidth. This port supports uncompressed visuals on high resolutions and at high refresh rates, making it ideal for modern external GPUs like the ASUS ROG XG Mobile 2025 and Razer Core X V2. However, users shouldn’t expect speeds comparable to standard PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 x16 interfaces.
Thanks to the dedicated NPU on the Strix Halo chip, the MS-S1 Max Mini offers up to 50 TOPS of AI performance, with a combined total of up to 126 TOPS. It supports large models like up to 109B parameter LLMs and excels at both intensive CPU operations and AI workloads.
The MS-S1 Max Mini is set for release in the second half of 2025, but pricing details are not yet available.
