A strange camera glitch has been observed on Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 models. Some users are reporting white squiggles and blacked-out patches appearing in their photos, particularly when bright LED stage lights are present. This issue emerged even before the new iPhones hit store shelves, but thankfully, Apple is aware of it.
**Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro and Air Cameras Show White Squiggles Under LED Lights, but a Software Fix Is Coming**
Henry Casey from CNN Underscored tested the iPhones at a live concert and documented the problem. With the iPhone Air, parts of the frame went dark while white squiggly lines appeared in other areas. The issue wasn’t consistent; it only occurred in about one out of every ten photos taken under these conditions.
Casey described the camera issue as sporadic but frustrating. Apple confirmed the glitch and explained that it happens “in very rare cases when an LED light display is extremely bright and shining directly into the camera.” They stated that this isn’t a hardware flaw but a software bug, which they plan to fix in the upcoming iOS 26.1 update.
Apple typically addresses such issues quickly, and we can expect this update soon. Until then, iPhone 17 Pro and Air users should be cautious when taking photos near intense LED lights. We will notify you once the update is available for your device.
