NVIDIA is reportedly planning to adjust the prices of its RTX 50 series almost immediately. The firm has experienced significant pressure from an oversupply and poor sales.
NVIDIA’s “Ironically” Faces Over-Inventory Issues With RTX 50 GPUs, Price Cuts & Discounts Expected This Month
This is quite an unexpected situation. Previously scarce in the market, the RTX 50 series now faces a poor response from retail channels. According to BoardChannels (via Chiphell), the supply of RTX 50 GPUs has increased far beyond optimal levels. To restore balance, NVIDIA and its AIB partners may implement widespread price cuts across the RTX 50 lineup. This move aims to help manufacturers achieve their sales targets and maintain market liquidity.

Previously, we reported on a rumor that NVIDIA was reducing the RTX 50 supply by more than 30%. It seems price adjustments are a result of this move. Usually, around Q3-Q4, current-gen GPU offerings become available at better prices, mainly due to companies capitalizing on consumer upgrade cycles. With NVIDIA reportedly having a GPU oversupply, rapid price cuts will be implemented, and we have already started to see the effects.

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 recently dropped to an all-time low of $579.99 at Amazon, coming closer to its MSRP. Similarly, the RTX 5060 was retailing for $334.99. We expect price discounts to be even more diverse in August, so keep an eye out for amazing deals on retail platforms. If users are looking to upgrade their GPUs, the next few months might be ideal, as companies prepare to release newer models and clear older inventory.
The launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series initially came with prices above MSRP, but retailers saw limited availability. Now, times have drastically changed.
