However, a modder has taken things to the next level by creating a handheld device that includes NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU. A Bilibili creator, Qingchen DIY, attached a laptop motherboard to a 12.5-inch screen, incorporating components such as Intel’s Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 variant. The gaming performance on this handheld is truly exceptional.
The handheld managed to run games like God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, and Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K settings. The demo showed a flawless gaming experience even with high-quality configurations. Most modern-day handhelds struggle to run these titles at 1080p with decent frame rates, but this customized handheld, powered by the RTX 4090 laptop GPU, delivered surprising performance.
The DIY handheld features 64GB DDR5-5600 memory and a 2TB SSD capacity integrated into the laptop’s mainboard. To achieve a portable form factor, it includes standard controls like triggers and joysticks, with design cutouts similar to mainstream handhelds.
