Previous-generation Pixel smartphones used the older UFS 3.1 storage, which was not only slower but also more power-consuming compared to competing devices. Thankfully, Google upgraded all Pixel 10 models, including the base version, to UFS 4.0 memory. For the more premium Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL, and Fold editions, Zoned UFS (ZUFS) was introduced. This advanced technology aims to improve long-term performance and endurance.
In addition to the new Tensor G5 processor, the Pixel 10 series now uses UFS 4.0, which is significantly faster than the older UFS 3.1 standard. According to Android Authority, data transfer speeds can increase by up to 200 percent, while power consumption can decrease by up to 46 percent. This means that all Pixel 10 models will open applications faster and perform better during memory-intensive tasks like high-framerate video recording.
Zoned UFS can extend the lifespan of smartphone memory chips, reducing the risk of slowdowns or complete hardware failure for Pixel 10 owners. However, only the 512GB versions of the Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL, and Fold will receive this technology. While U.S. customers might have access to higher capacity variants, Google may not offer the same in other markets, forcing potential buyers to import them at their own risk.
If you haven’t upgraded to a flagship yet, Amazon is offering a promotion where you can pre-order the Pixel 10 family from $799 onwards and receive a $100 gift card with no conditions attached.
