U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison on Friday, October 3, after the embattled hip-hop mogul was convicted in his federal sex-crimes case. Combs could be released in less than three years after receiving credit for the time he has already spent at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he’s been held since September 2024.
On Monday, Trump was initially asked about a potential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, an aide to Jeffrey Epstein who was convicted of sex trafficking charges. The Supreme Court refused to hear her appeal on October 6.
Combs, a Grammy-winning rapper and producer arrested in September 2024, was found guilty in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. His conviction centered on the transportation of ex-R&B star Casandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine and a woman identified as “Jane,” along with other sex workers for the intent of prostitution.
Addressing the judge before his sentencing, Combs apologized to his former partners who testified during the trial that he physically abused and controlled them, forcing them into marathon drug-fueled sexual encounters with male escorts. Those sessions, dubbed “freak offs,” often involved travel across state and even international boundaries.
“Personal apologies again to Cassie Ventura for any harm or hurt that I caused to her, emotionally or physically. My actions were disgusting, shameful, and sick,” Combs said. He also apologized to Jane. “I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he added.
