Digital Chat Station previously reported that Qualcomm was developing silicon with the designation number ‘SM8845,’ which is now claimed to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Unlike the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, this successor will reportedly use the best manufacturing process and feature custom Oryon CPU cores similar to those in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. This could allow Qualcomm’s smartphone partners to achieve higher margins.
The tipster stated that Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered devices are expected to fall within the 2,000-2,500 yuan price range (approximately $280-$350). This means customers can enjoy advanced features without spending a significant amount. Additionally, the Dimensity 9400+ and Dimensity 9500e options are expected to be available, with improved battery life due to silicon-carbon technology.
While we cannot confirm which rumor is true, our advice is to treat this information with caution. We will provide further updates hopefully later this month.
