The combat segments with Leon have received significant enhancements, including elements borrowed from The Last of Us Part II. Additionally, the game features a new lighting/shadow engine and hair engine from Pragmata. Other innovations include improved AI for the stalker character, which behaves uniquely and intelligently, and enhanced environmental physics systems for Grace’s segments.
Currently, only one official protagonist, FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft, is confirmed. She investigates strange deaths at Raccoon City hotel where her mother died eight years ago. However, given CAPCOM’s history of keeping other playable characters under wraps, it wouldn’t be surprising if Leon turns out to be a second protagonist.
Resident Evil Requiem will release on February 27, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
