The latest Steam Hardware Survey for August has revealed an interesting trend: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 is the most popular RTX 50 series GPU, but the RTX 5060 saw a significant increase of 0.41% in share.
According to the survey:
– The RTX 5070 gained 0.25% and now has a market share of 1.57%.
– The RTX 5060’s market share increased from 0.34% to 1.01%, making it the fastest-growing GPU in this segment.
Despite offering only 8 GB of VRAM, the RTX 5060 is becoming a popular choice due to its budget-friendly price tag and decent performance compared to older GPUs like the RTX 4060 and RTX 3060. In fact, 8 GB VRAM cards have gained 1.37% in market share, making them the most preferred option among Steam users.
In contrast, AMD’s RDNA 4-based Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs are not appearing in the survey despite their strong sales performance.
The survey also indicates that older GPUs continue to dominate the charts:
– The previous-gen RTX 4060 is still leading.
– Other GPUs from earlier generations like the RTX 30 and Turing series remain popular among users.
Interestingly, 8 GB VRAM cards are the most chosen option, with a market share of 35.03%, up 1.37% compared to July. This is significantly higher than the 6.80% for 16 GB GPUs and 19.30% for 12 GB cards.
In summary, while the RTX 40 series remains dominant, the RTX 5060 is showing strong growth in popularity among budget-conscious gamers.
