New DDR5 overclocking records are inching closer to the 13,000 MT/s mark, but it’s going to take a lot of time. With a new world record, we’re now close to 12,900 MT/s, which could possibly be reached with the next record.
Overclocker Pushes CORSAIR DDR5 Memory to 12886 MT/s on ASRock Z890 Taichi OCF, Making a New World Record
Nearly 20 days after Bl4ckdot achieved 12,872 MT/s using G.Skill Trident Z5 memory, professional overclocker “saltycroissant” once again topped the charts by reaching an impressive 12,886 MT/s with CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 memory. This isn’t the first time saltycroissant has claimed the top spot, but these records usually change hands monthly.
By using a single-channel 24 GB CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 memory, saltycroissant achieved a frequency of 6443.1 MHz or 12,886 MT/s on ASRock’s Z890 Taichi OCF motherboard paired with the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K. This motherboard has been used multiple times for breaking memory records and is known for its exceptional overclocking capabilities.
The latency (CL68-127-127-127-2) remained unchanged, likely due to the small difference in clock speeds between previous and current world records. A mere 14 MT/s increase makes it much harder to break records at this speed compared to lower frequencies like 11,000 MT/s.
The frequency of new world records has significantly dropped from weekly occurrences previously. It’s likely to drop further as the Z890 platform and DDR5 approach their limits. However, there’s a possibility of seeing 13,000 MT/s speed in the near future, driven by enthusiastic overclockers like saltycroissant, seby, bl4ckdot, and others.
