Samsung is expected to introduce new display materials for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with reports suggesting that it will not only outperform the M13 variant but also support COE, or Color Filter on Encapsulation. This combination could make Samsung’s top-end smartphone one of the best devices in 2026.
Only the Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Be Equipped with Samsung’s M14 OLED Panels, Leading the Market with Two New Technologies
Before the iPhone 17 was officially launched, reports indicated that Apple would use the newer M14 OLED panels across all four models. One of the key benefits is the efficiency improvements in the blue-emitting layer, which increases brightness by 30 percent and extends its lifespan compared to the older M13 panels. According to ETNews, Samsung plans to match Apple’s display upgrade for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Combine the M14 OLED with Samsung’s CoE, or Color Filter on Encapsulation, which enhances light transmittance and saves power. This could result in a unique screen experience for customers. Additionally, the flagship is rumored to exclusively feature Samsung’s ‘Flex Magic Pixel’ technology, providing privacy protection without an additional accessory.
Unfortunately, only the Galaxy S26 Ultra will receive the newer M14 OLED panels when it launches early next year. The Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge are expected to use the older M13 variant. Samsung’s top-end model may bring several exclusive upgrades but could be the first in three years to feature its Exynos chipset.
The Exynos 2600 is reportedly set for full-scale production by the end of September on a 2nm GAA process, and while we await confirmation if this SoC will be used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, you can read our in-depth rumor roundup about Samsung’s first 2nm GAA silicon.
