**SK Hynix Manages to Put an End to Samsung’s DRAM Leadership by Securing Decisive HBM Clients like NVIDIA**

This headline isn’t surprising at all, considering the significant progress made by SK Hynix over the past few years, largely driven by cutting-edge HBM technologies. For decades, Samsung’s DRAM market share was dominant, making it the go-to choice for customers seeking memory solutions. However, with the AI hype, SK Hynix has significantly increased its market presence and now holds the DRAM industry’s crown, as reported by Korean media.

Samsung is claimed to have experienced the most significant drop in market share since 1999, witnessing an 8.8 percentage point decrease from 41.5% to 32.7% over just six months. The driving factor behind this decline is Samsung’s inability to secure HBM contracts with companies like NVIDIA. Although Samsung is progressing with HBM3E, there are no signs yet of a significant market share recovery.

In a unique start to his ruling against President Donald Trump’s administration on September 30, U.S. District Court Judge William Young included a scanned handwritten note sent to his office. **SK Hynix’s Dominance in the DRAM Industry**

Meanwhile, SK Hynix has been at the forefront of the HBM business for many years, securing contracts with NVIDIA early on. The firm now holds a 36.3 percent DRAM market share, surpassing Samsung for the first time in 33 years. This surge is driven by demand for HBM3 and HBM3E products from companies like NVIDIA and other manufacturers. SK Hynix has also become one of the first firms to produce a full-scale HBM4 solution, far ahead of its competitors.

For now, it will be interesting to see how Samsung recovers its position in the HBM sector. However, it is evident that unless Samsung manages to enter NVIDIA’s supply chain and dominate it, SK Hynix will continue to lead the DRAM industry.
