The official Battlefield account on X posted an overview of how this Open Beta differs from previous tests and the final game. The Assault class has been reworked with new abilities, such as Commanding Presence replacing Enhanced Mobility. This trait speeds up objective captures for nearby squad members and exits combat status more quickly. Additionally, the Spawn Beacon has moved from the Recon class to the Assault class, aiming to enhance teamplay through frontline flanking and coordinated movement.
The Deploy Beacon can now only be used a finite number of times per squad and will self-destruct if an Assault player spawns on it. The new Assault Ladder gadget allows squads access to previously unreachable areas; depending on its deployment angle, it functions as a ladder or ramp. This powerful teamplay tool enables Assault players to assist their entire team in overcoming obstacles, gaining height advantages, and surprising the enemy.
The Engineer remains unchanged for now, while minor tweaks may be made to the Support class’s supply crate refresh rate and how well its signature weapon buffs contribute to gameplay flow. The Recon class has replaced one of its training options, Pathfinder, with Spec Ops:
– **Spec Ops 0:** Base class training that allows quieter takedowns, crouching, and prone movement.
– **Spec Ops 1:** Spots nearby enemy gadgets (except when sprinting).
– **Spec Ops 2:** Going prone takes you out of combat faster and removes the spot on yourself.
At Level 3, the Recon class gains an Active Ability to call in a UAV for passive spotting at a marked position.
Lastly, developers confirmed during a press briefing that matchmaking in Battlefield 6 will be based on several factors including ping, player location, server availability, and skill checks. The exact criteria are unclear, but the goal is to deliver more evenly balanced experiences between players with similar skills.
