The trend raises critical concerns about the platforms’ role in preventing the spread of tools that can be easily abused. The creators boldly claim these gadgets are entirely different from AirTags, boasting that they are silent, invisible, and can be placed under car seats or on the undercarriage without detection. These trackers have their own SIM cards but lack Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functionality, allowing them to track anyone at any time.
However, despite being marketed as undetectable, these trackers are misleadingly presented as certified Find My accessories. This means that Apple’s built-in protections still apply, yet the trackers do not trigger alerts or audible chimes on iPhones and some Android devices when someone carries them without consent. Reviews from customers also reveal that the anti-Find My pitch is deceptive.
These trackers are not only illegal and unethical in many places but also violate Apple’s clear policy: Find My accessories “should not be used to track people, and should not be used to track property that does not belong to you.” It is disheartening to see this message reduced to a mere sales pitch.
On the other hand, TikTok’s policies explicitly prohibit content that promotes criminal activity. Despite these claims, many of the videos remain live. Some have been taken down after being flagged by media outlets like 404 Media, but dozens more still appear on the platform. We will continue to update you on any new developments regarding this issue.
