Saha criticized the previous government for destroying cultural and religious tourism monuments belonging to royal families but praised the current BJP-led government for restoring and developing them. He highlighted that there is significant potential in the state’s tourism sector, particularly in religious tourism. The state government has given special priority to the development of the tourism industry and plans to further promote and expand it.
At an event in Kamalasagar and within the Kasba Kalibari Complex under Sepahijala District, Saha laid the foundation stone for the development of tourism infrastructure. He noted that previously, accessing the Kasbeshwari Temple from the national highway was difficult due to poor road conditions. To address this, he spoke with the Public Works Department officials to improve the road.
Saha emphasized that Tripura is brimming with tourism potential and highlighted the importance of developing religious tourist centers such as the Kasbeswari Temple and the Chaturdasha Devta Temple. These are ancient sites that were neglected during the CPI(M) era but now receive special attention from the current government. He mentioned that the infrastructure development will benefit local youth, shopkeepers, and tourists interested in learning about Tripura’s handlooms and handicrafts.
The Chief Minister also noted that the 13-kilometer-long road was developed at a cost of about Rs 34 crore to connect these temples more conveniently. He expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on infrastructure development, stating that the current government is focusing on this aspect with special attention in the budget.
In addition to projects funded by ADB and the World Bank, Saha mentioned that the government has laid the foundation stone for a 51 Shakti Peeth Park in Banduar, Udaipur. Once developed, it will further enhance Tripura’s tourism industry.
The event was attended by various dignitaries including Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Sepahijala Zila Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, and others.
