See President Trump’s UN speech start with teleprompter trouble
During his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, President Trump had issues with his teleprompter.
President Donald Trump was still upset a day after experiencing multiple technical difficulties at the United Nations. He accused the organization of “triple sabotage” and demanded an investigation and arrests without offering evidence.
Trump had to deal with an escalator that wasn’t working and a teleprompter that initially malfunctioned. He claimed the sound was “completely off” in the auditorium during his address.
“This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN,” Trump said in a Sept. 24 social media post. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric stated that an investigation found a member of Trump’s team may have caused the escalator to stop working by inadvertently triggering its safety function.
The teleprompter issue was resolved during Trump’s speech, and General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock confirmed that U.N. teleprompters were functioning properly after it concluded.
Trump has called for an investigation into these technical failures, with both he and United Nations Ambassador Mike Waltz saying the Secret Service will look into them. Waltz stated: “These lapses are unacceptable and symptomatic of a broken institution that pose serious safety and security risks.”
