An Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake from Ubisoft, though not officially confirmed, has been a topic of numerous rumors and leaks. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot previously acknowledged that remakes of Assassin’s Creed games are on the horizon. However, until it is officially announced, all information should be taken with a grain of salt.
According to Jeux Vidéo Magazine, which has accurately reported unannounced details about the Assassin’s Creed series in the past, several significant changes are being implemented for this remake. Notably, the game will emphasize the RPG aspects that have been developing since the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins, with Edward Kenway gaining stats for his gear.
Jeux Vidéo Magazine also claims that modern-day sections of the game are being removed and replaced with more time spent on pirating adventures. The map remains unchanged, but new quests and activities will be introduced, eliminating loading screens between ship and land travel. Content cut from the original 2013 release is being reintroduced, and the remake is set for a first-half-2026 release, potentially in March.
While these claims have not been officially confirmed by Ubisoft, they suggest a substantial overhaul of the game compared to its original version. The removal of modern-day elements and the shift towards RPG gameplay could indicate a broader change in the series’ approach.
These developments raise questions about other confirmed remakes. Might the rest of the Assassin’s Creed series be reimagined to align more closely with the RPG era? Could this represent a step towards altering or eliminating the modern-day narrative sections?
Only time will tell as Ubisoft officially announces the remake.
