Xiaomi’s teaser for the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Pro has generated interest with a surprising design twist—a rear display built into the camera plateau. In a short video shared on Weibo, the company showcased the phone’s rear design, which resembles the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera bar design but features a functional secondary display on the back. This display can show information like a clock, images, widgets, and even a camera viewfinder.
Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro also has a large camera bar at the back, which the company calls the “plateau.” Xiaomi’s new teaser suggests a larger, more useful panel that extends around the camera bump, almost wrapping it. This could bring more creative use cases to the table.
The teaser highlights features like live camera preview, making it easier to take selfies or high-quality shots with the rear camera when flipping the phone. Xiaomi’s implementation not only functions properly but also looks better. You can check out the teaser on Weibo [here](https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5211441785210764).
Xiaomi has experimented with various designs in the past, and some unique ones have contributed to making the company what it is today. However, this particular design mirrors Apple’s recent introduction. The iPhone 17 Pro also features a giant camera bar at the back.
While Xiaomi’s rendition is still a teaser, Apple’s new design language will be launched soon since the new models were announced last week. The Xiaomi 17 Pro has a dual camera setup on the back, in contrast to the triple camera array on the iPhone 17 Pro. This could free up ample space for a miniaturized display.
Xiaomi is expected to power the device with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 chipset, ensuring performance comparable to Apple’s A19 Pro chip. We will share additional details as they become available. Do you think Apple is leading the industry in terms of design? Share your thoughts in the comments.
